Gloria Gibson has recently joined Paragon as the fit out business’ Design Lead, bringing 30 years industry experience and, sense of fun, to a new tranche of fit out projects.

“Working at Paragon feels like home already! Everyone has been so welcoming. The team are genuinely supportive of each other and strike a wonderful balance of hard work and fun which has made joining the team feel like the best decision!“

How did you start out in the construction industry?

After graduating with an Honours Degree in Interior Design I found that my passion was for working in the space between client organisations and the design and delivery teams.

My 30 year career in Design Management has primarily been in the aviation sector, starting with my first major role as Design Manager for Heathrow Express, several years as Design Manager for Gatwick Airport, the delivery of Heathrow Terminal 2 and latterly the Expansion Programme at Heathrow Airport. In the last 3 years I have diversified into the blue lights sector working client side on an extremely high profile and sensitive programme alongside Paragon colleagues.

What does your current role at Paragon involve?

My new role with Paragon will help us provide continuity and build upon the strong relationships we have built with our public and private sector clients. I will lead our team of Design Managers to ensure that through excellent stakeholder engagement, our clients are able to articulate their requirements fully and clearly so that we can manage the Design Teams and the process to provide great solutions and deliver excellence.

Are there any Charities or Organisations that you support?

Parkinson’s Disease has unfortunately touched my family affecting both my mum and older brother. I support their fundraising where I can.

Another charity I am actively supporting with my partner Charlie, is Combat Stress, which provides specialist treatment and support for veterans’ mental health. During the winter we completed a sponsored cold water Santa Swim in a lake in Surrey with a water temp of just 7 degrees!

What do you enjoy doing out of work?

I have discovered in the past 2 years that I rather enjoy cold water swimming!

I am a member of the Serpentine Swimming Club and swim throughout the year at various lidos, lakes and in the sea on the south coast. There is a wonderful natural high to be had following an icy dip!

Otherwise, my 9-year-old Australian Labradoodle keeps me occupied with lovely long walks over the South Downs.
